if He puts you to it, He'll help you through it

Part of the starting point could be read here, I supposed.

Praise be to ALLAH S.W.T
I am now qualified, accepted and admitted into the Final Year of my four years study here in the law school.
It has not been easy, it has not been swift.
The countless time that I had to juggle two bags to class including a laptop, the many hours spent in the library, the usual workloads and some projects, the curse and the tempers of lecturers, the oompa-lumpa attire nearing the exams and many, many more.
Name it, I've covered pretty much all.
And all was worth it for this-

and one more year shall come and pass with me succeeding in it to gain the prestigious
LLB Hons. (Malaya)

That seems big.
But not too far away, now.

Thank you to Allah, my family, my lecturers, friends and batchmates, my supervisors and my seniors.

over the top is my middle name

I have always wanted to recreate the Gaga look. As fierce and out of the world she may be, she's the stand out of makeup for me. I absolutely 100% love someone who creates and paints rather than enhance (this is the opposite of what every makeup girl should believe). Gaga is just so...different. I am liking her music quite less now but her makeup, say whatever, I'm always psyched about.

I'm still in my working attire, just got back and was too hyper and energetic to have a nap so I've decided to scroll in my favorite tumblrs and found the Rolling Stone Lady Gaga Cover. Knowing Lady Gaga, this look was probably her most subtle look of all. My roommate was with me and she said that I should do this look (although I've done similar looks in the past, I think) instead of this look :-

...only secretly, I would want to do this one :)

have it your way, then

Peach Beam Blusher #3 (Peach Beam), Touch Touch! Shadow Liner, Etude House Sharpener

First of all, I'm really sorry for the picture quality. I have been moving into a new room for this attachment programme that I'm having and I was just too tired to set up a space or little location to take pictures of the stuffs that I got. I even didn't put my usual darling MJ's Calender in place. Work has been getting the best of me, and I am enjoying every second of it that I'd rather be busy with the trial and cases and learning on procedural matters in court that I couldn't care less on organising my stuffs. I also couldn't find where my camera cable have gone, and wouldn't want to waste my time searching through the bags. So phone camera quality will do at the moment, eh?

Anyway, back to the point.

I did sneak out a bit during lunch hour or so to check out new products in stores that I love. And mind you, I haven't been into Etude House for a really long time now. I'm glad that when I did, they're having their 30% and 50% off prices on nearly every makeup items and some of the skincare items. They even have a new line that came out and is sort of Tangerine inspired. I didn't check on that much because I find that the products are really true orange based rather than peachy as I thought in first instance.

But do you know that kind of feeling where you're not happy with what you get and just feeling all ehhh inside? That is how I'm feeling now with my purchases this time. I could say that I'm glad I didn't get that many or else I'll fell worse. I'm really surprised that Etude House uses plastic bags now? I mean, one of the reasons why I like this store (apart from it being my most favourite Asian beauty brand) is because I really like their paper bags that they had once ago. The paper bags were sort of what they are known for because, correct me if I'm wrong, other beauty stores didn't carry. But oh well to that.

I initially ONLY need the sharpener, which was RM2.90 reduced to 30% off. I got the Touch Touch! Shadow Liner because I really like the color. It would be perfect for all over the eye or as an eye base. However it does have a rather thick consistency, that of the gel liner type that I don't reckon will work quite well for an eyeshadow. After a few swatches at the store, the color does go on quite thick and when rubbed gently, half of it is gone completely. I may be could use this as a gel eyeliner, which would defeat the purpose of having one if its going to come off very light instead of black on the lids. I shall think of what to do with it, if I cannot use my brush, I will just have to use my ring finger and lightly dab it onto my eyelids to control the thickness of it's consistency.

As for the blusher, I really am not in favour of its plastic packaging. Not that I mind though, but other Etude House range of blushers have cuter packaging, I feel like I'm paying more. The color is pretty though. It's a baked consistency with one side is a peachy color (slightly gold) while the other is a medium pink tone. But holly molly, the blusher has shimmers like no tomorrow. I'm a fan of matte blusher, as I like to have my glow through a highlight instead of a shimmer blusher because its easier to control. I don't think you can see clearly from the picture but it definitely has shimmers. I'm quite dissapointed with this blusher, but I don't want to say anything further. I will give it a try to see if I like it or else, my sister can have it.

I hope none of you have any post-purchase regrets lately, sigh. Have a great day anyone.

as aggressively unattractive outside as you are inside

This is Mary Kate Olsen, the girl who has so much effected my childhood years with the Fullhouse series and who is now known as a fashion mogul herself. She is the ironwoman behind Olsenboye and Elizabeth & James and despite everyone looking up at her for her tres chic fashion, I would die for her grunge look.

My own version of it. I used a bright lipstick from Dior Rouge in 863 Holiday Red whereas hers was a deep red-to-burgundy sort of color. And I didn't wear any falsies as compared to her. I just layered on mascara.

What I want to emphasise her is her eyes- the smudged eyeliner eyes. And for that, I'm using Sephora Eye Pencil in 01 Midnight Black and Elianto angled eye brush.

First: I lined my lower lashline, just halfway through from the outer corner into the middle of the lower lashline. Make sure to get it right into the line and erase any excess with a cotton bud.

Second: I lined my tightline. The picture below shows exactly how it is done; where you pull your eyelids up using you finger ir hold it up with a brush and start lining your inner eyelids.

To be completely honest I am not a pro when it comes to tightlining but I find it very important when pulling of a natural look because that way, your eyes will look black and pop out enough that you wouldn't need to line your upper lash line. However, it's okay if you don't do precise tightlining as you would need to line your eyes anyway to create the smudge effect.

Third: I lined my eyes, as always. For a smudge effect, pencil or kohl eyeliner is the best option as it's easy to be blend out and smudge out. Cream liners, gel liners and liquid liners won't do the justice. So keep it in the back of the mind when buying eye pencils to find one that's texture is very creamy and smooth and thick that it could double up as a go-to eyeliner in a rush and to create a smudge effect. I would suggest getting this eyeliner from Sephora.

Fourth: Use the brush to smudge out the color. Start with going to the bottom/lower lashline and lightly smudge it. Using an angled brush would help to get into the difficult areas on the eye as our eyes are small so when smudging, using a blending brush or eyeshadow brush wouldn't cut it because we want ti be able to maneuver our way through. When smudging, focus on the outer corner of the eyes and bring the color of the eyeliner down slightly. Do the same for the upper lashline- smudging the outer corner as well. Don't go smudging all the way in as we still want to have the eyeliner on.

Last: Layer on coats of mascaras. If you're not using falsies, it is okay to do three of four coats just to get the long lashes that Mary Kate has.

Smudging could go all the way to looking like this

only this pne, I assume, she either uses a slight bit of a black eyeshadow or she smudge off her eyeliner altogether. In my opinion, she did the later.
Hillary Duff, another one of my fave in childhood with the Lizzie Mc Guire series and I once did sing myself stupid to 'Fly' *shaking head*

I just changed the color of my lips to a peachy nude tone that she's sporting and I think it looks wearable this way.

Bai all! Sayang semua!

want affection, dream perfection

Something that has never even cross my mind to happen has yes, arrived in Malaysia. Just the thought of it I think is mindblowing. I mean, we didn't even have half of their amazing slash offs and walk-out-the-rack drugstore products to begin with, let alone to be blessed with a store that cater half of their high end ones. We're talking about beyond cute packaging and sunny to tan bronzers. We're talking about matte to shimmery and glittery eyeshadows. We're talking about body bar, body lotion and body sprays of kinds we could only get off Ebay. And we're talking about everything under Sephora, the big beauty store now opened in Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang.

So you would know how even the thought of it opening and filled with all the uber fun stuffs was hard enough to endure what with my previous examination has taken its toll. I had painstalkingly avoid from crazily going there during the brief intervals I had on my examination week. But went to it, I did. A day after my last paper has ended I knew it was time to go there :p

Me with a good friend of mine who is also a makeup junkie, Myra.

They have brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced and Bare Minerals which I am such a secret fan of. And for the life of me, they even have Burt's Bee *swoon*. The Sephora brand are there as well and I could tell from the many range of its products that some of them I have never heard of!

The "oh so happy" faces when walking out of the store.

What I got :-
  • Soap & Glory Trick And Treatment Under Eye dark Circle Concealer
I have used this concealer three times already and I must say that I quite like it. I am not much of a concealer girl even to my under eye circle and my acnes as foundation and powder are usually enough for me. I also don't own that many of a concealer that I could make comparisons with. But as far as this one goes, as I said, I quite like it. It ha special yellow tone color to hide bluish-purple undereye circles (which to some extent, it did) I wasn't expecting this product to completely hide my under eye damage because her, it would always stay there no matter what you put on, it's only good if you could embrace it. I haven't used this to my acne spots and scars but I think it should be fine.
  • Sephora Eye Pencil in 01 Midnight Black
This is just a tiny pencil with the blackest color to my lower lids, I literally had to put Vaseline to wipe it off. I love the slight goth effect (not too much though) that it gives. Will definitely compete in my staple with my beloved Maybelline 2-in-1 Impact Shadow Liner.

The earlier product retails at RM49 and the later retails at RM21. I would recommend both, especially the eyeliner.

p/s: go hit Sephora and be crazy

it's not enough to see it, you must feel it in your heart

A week back, when I was going through my ups and downs of the final examination, I did went and got myself into a bit of a retail therapy. However I think that I've made some immense damage along the way, and ended up with quite more than I can handle at the moment, to be frank. Funny really, when at times I would take about an hour the least to make up my mind to see if I had really, really wanted a product. I guess I had enough of time racking my brain inside the Examination Hall and to stress further displeases me in the moment.

So without further ado---

My secret love affair would like to say HI!

Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Silk Two Way Cake Powder in 02 Nude Beige, Vinyl Gloss Mirror Shine Lipgloss in 111 Demure, Rimmel London Glam Eyes Lash Flirt Mascara in 001 Kohl Black, AVON True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Blushed Raisin, Smooth Minerals AVON blusher in Blushed, Smooth Minerals AVON Eyeshadow in Midnight Mauve, IN2it Waterproof Blush Set in 03 Affinity, AVON Ultra Moisture Rich Sheer Lipstick in C02 Sheer Pink, AVON Simply Pretty ColorBliss Lipstick in Fresh Melon, AVON Simply Pretty ColorBliss Lipstick in Mystic Beige.

I first bought all the AVON stuffs back home because it was a while since I last peeped into their store. The pamplets that they gave me were more than enough to paper my bedroom wall! So I went to AVON, knowing that their mineral lines were to come out an I got the blusher and the mineral pigments. So far I haven't used the blusher but I have really wanted to find pigments. I know they could be quite messy at times, believe me I have chucked out about four to five pigment jars from Elianto because as far as they have great colors and I like them a lot, I really couldn't handle the messiness. Furthermore, I'm not really big into eyeshadows so I was really, really picky about them. I wanted for the ones I have to be the ones that I love and would use often with ease. This one from AVON would be less messy as it is safely secured in a tight jar with small opening to dip our brush into the pigments and get it on the eyes without hassle. Midnight Mauve is a deep purple color with a bit of a brown undertone. The blusher looks like a plum color, so I think these two matches.

The other eyeshadows I have is the quad from AVON, which I have wanted for a while now. I haven't tried them properly yet but when playing around, I noticed how smooth and silky they felt on my eyes, not hard at all to blend. The four colors that came in it were neutrals as well and are named, from upper left to lower right, brule-rose nude-raisin-plum. Brule and Rose Nude are matte finished whereas Raisin and Plum are shimmer finished. I personally like the matte finishes for a neutral look and the shimmers if you want some dimensions to your lids, which I rarely go for. The lipsticks from AVON are ones I am all too familiar with, they always have either sheer or frost finishs. I like the frost better (Mystic Beige and Fresh Melon are frost colors) as I find they go on the lips smoothly. I've tried both and they are especially creamy while being frost, the mystic beige color really does wash my face out as it was too nude.

I got myself another mascara, this time from Rimmel and of course, I haven't worn it yet as I'm still good with my recent purchase mascaras from Loreal and Majolica Majorca. The Vinyl Lipgloss is one that I have always wanted as I know how opaque it would be and you could wear it alone without a lipstick and still get the color on your lips. I went for the baby pink that they have, and this one paired with the Sheer Pink from AVON would be a perfect combo.

The blusher from In2it is a three tone, brown-to-coral blusher. At first I thought it would be creative to use it as an eyeshadow trio as well but it was too chalky for the eyes that the colors didn't blend well enough. However, it did make a good blusher. Out of all purchases, I've worn this one multiple times already and the color was very pretty, it even stays on half the day, which I don't know about you but I always seem to have problems about my blusher dissapearing! Lastly, I bought the Two Way Cake BB Powder from Maybelline. I did want to try some BB Creams but I'm sceptical to start with Maybelline. I don't know, but I have the feeling that the Korean or Japanese brands making BB Creams get it better than US/UK products. I wanted to try some Lioelle BB Cream if I could find one. Also, I am the type of girl who loves full coverage makeup, and I'm quite scared that I can't have that in BB Creams. I'm not playing- my skin is not some kind of Kawaii girls wearing Harajuku style shirts. But I am almost willing to give it a try. Oh well, about 60%. I'll convert if I can be 100% sure that there is one out there that can give me just the one thing that I can't let go of --> full coverage =)

Let us all pray that this is the last purchase of makeup for a while (excluding the next one, which is from...SEPHORA!)

Bai. Sayang semua.

not a makeup post entry: the things I do to become a lawyer

...seems far from there yet.

I knew I would write very less during this two semesters of my third year as a law student (and already I'm dreading the damage it would cost to this site when I entered into my final year, hopefully) This whole two semesters for me, aside from studying, has been about completing my Thesis, or well known for us here as Project Paper. I know before entering the third year that it would have been very easy to score in it if you're constantly working your butt off on it. Seriously, from all the talks, I thought it would be an easy feat. But no, boy no. Not only do some of us have to endure physical pain just to get it done, but people like me, who I think would be classed in the average people-completing-their-work category, it has already been a suicidal mission from the very beginning. Seriously if I were to look back, from all the classes, tutorials and projects that had been my regular busy schedule for this past two and a half years, I wouldn't be able to tell how I managed to complete my thesis. And complete it I did. Of course, in the best form that I could give, because the supervisors here won't even accept a just-get-it-done kind of work. If you are not capable of answering your authorities, the 13800 words of thesis won't even see the back of your supervisor's door. T.T

This is a pre-edited version of the Thesis, bare without its proper cover and binding.

And of course, after a whole year of work, and we did pass it up, we have approximately a week and a few days of brief solitude, which after that, came our much dreaded, once-in-a-year final examination ;

I dropped any other elective subjects for this year, thought I could finish them in my final year because the thesis was talking too much of my time and I knew I couldn't cope up with it. So I stuck to the 4 major courses: Equity, Will and Trust, Jurisprudence, Partnership and Company Law and Public International Law. The papers, once faced with them, were not nearly as bad for me as compared to the preparations and studying beforehand. Maybe I was used to this semester's working on the brink of things that I refused to be succumbed to any post-examination what-ifs and looking back for answers. I decided to let it be- even before I started my first paper. And true enough, mindset does play a role. After answering each four of the papers, I felt free like a bird with enough shits. Each time was satisfying.

I finished my last paper on Thursday, which was two days ago, and my post-examination freedom and celebration consist of the following weekends, and on Monday next week, I'll see myself in High Court Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur, starting on my first day of Attachment program;

Some work-related stuffs beginning Monday until 6 weeks after.

Well for some very obvious reasons, I must say that I detest the thought of having to start working so early, right after our examination. But it would be so much of a hassle not to really, on a brighter note, I'll have a fully uninterrupted holiday after that. But for next Monday, I'm just going to buckle up and face it, like I did my previous thesis and examination. Hopefully it's for the best, and I'm able to have fun as well as being serious in court. I was hoping that some of the practices would lift up my half-empty bottle of spirit. I needed the extra nourishment over the seemingly dry interest that I have right now. And crucial it is, as Malaysia as well as the International's political issues are getting juicier. I need to get back on track in the legal lane.

But of course, what fun would the legal lane be without the necessary sidetrack of regular beauty and makeup doses? :)
